Character Background: Celussë Falasúlimë
|
Celussë's father is of the Laiquendi, a Green-elf of Ossiriand, whose
father fought with Beren in the First Age, and after that age's end
settled with his family in Lindon, in the last remnants of his beloved
country. Celussë's mother was a child of Gondolin who escaped with
her mother and sister, and grew up in Lindon and Eregion, later moving to
Imladris (Rivendell). Learning the stories of her ancestors and their
long fight against the Dark Powers as she grew up on the shores of
Mithlond, Celussë determined to see the wild places of Middle-earth
that her parents loved, and to do as much as she could to avenge the hurts
her people and others had suffered, before her time came to sail west with
her kin. "Celussë" means "freshet of water from a rocky spring"; she was named this in honor of her mother's father, a warrior of Gondolin's House of the Fountain, and also in honor of the Seven Rivers of Ossiriand, beloved by her father's kin. "Falasúlimë," "shore-wind-one," she earned when young, as she loved to dance on the sea-strand in the wind and spray. Though she is half Silvan, her names are in the Quenya tongue that her mother loves. When she was grown, her parents allowed her to travel as she wished, trusting in her friends and her own wisdom to keep her safe. She made her way to the valley of Imladris, where her parents met and wed, and was entranced by the beauty of the Last Homely House and its hidden valley. When there, she loves to investigate the vast resources of lore to be found there, both in books and in the inhabitants; when elsewhere, she is always looking to learn, to add to her lore-knowledge and skills and to put those skills to use in the service of all Free Peoples. She was humbled and honored to be chosen as one of the early members of a group of Imladrim, led by Seregnin and Lotheani, tasked by Elrond to venture far from Imladris, gathering information and hindering the Enemy wherever possible. Though she may travel widely, Rivendell remains her home, at least until this Age is ended.
